The Power of a Pause

Sometimes we’re chasing a goal with everything in us. We’ve come into a season with new knowledge, new responsibilities, and life is moving fast—so we try to move faster to catch up. We’re doing everything, carrying everything, and in the middle of it all… we forget to breathe.

Last week, in the midst of a busy day filled with noise, tasks, deadlines, and assignments (some of which I’ll admit, procrastination made worse), I found a quiet place in my room. I sat down. I closed my eyes. I allowed everything to slow down.

And in that moment of stillness, I felt peace. A gentle whisper surrounded me, reminding me that I don’t have to fight for what’s already mine—reminding me that my Father has already given me what I need. In that peace, I found clarity. I started to see how I could structure my day. How I could structure my life.

Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m not saying don’t be bold. Please, be bold. Go after the thing. That’s the word for the season. Chase it with fire in your heart and purpose in your steps. But as you run, don’t forget to pause. To sit in humility before the One who sent you on the journey in the first place. To realign. To receive. To remember.

I realised pausing isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s not wasted time. It’s actually a powerful, selfless act. In the pause, I reconnected. I spent time with the Lord. And I remembered that God is present—not just in the grand miracles, but also in the quiet, everyday spaces.

Now, I try to pause more often. Not to avoid the push, but to remember who is in control. To remind myself that I don’t have to rush in fear. That I can move from a place of rest.

So I ask you: When was the last time you truly paused? Because sometimes, in the pause, you realise—you’ve been busy, but you haven’t been growing.
